Just saying "Cheer up" doesn't help

Story

Mental illness is a common thing, but for some reason we don't talk about it enough. People you know, people in your life now, could be suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia - and they won't want to talk about it because they are ashamed or scared or don't know where to begin. They can't get out of bed, they can't understand why they feel this way, they can't manage simple daily tasks or maintain normal relationships because they have an illness and it needs to be treated. Just saying "Cheer up" doesn't help. We need to acknowledge and try to understand and offer genuine support.

There is help out there, but there needs to be more. I have decided to make a difference by taking part in The Color Run and raising money for Beyond Blue so that they can do all the real work. I am also trying to make a difference myself by talking about it. I want to help remove the stigma of mental illness, because maybe if there was no shame, people would never be afraid to seek help. Neither of these things seems to be enough, but it is what I have got.

Please support my efforts by making a secure online donation and a message of support. And look out for the people around you. Don't let them suffer alone, and don't just ignore their pain. You could also help me to fundraise by joining my fundraising team.

I would also really appreciate it if you could 'Like' and share my page above or comment below so more people know about it.
